More Than a Decade Behind Every Return
Ben brings more than a decade of experience in tax preparation, accounting, auditing, and data analytics to McClurg Tax Solutions. Through his current role at Principal Financial Group, along with earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and his MBA and MSBA (Master of Science in Business Analytics) from the University of Iowa, he has developed the analytical mindset and attention to detail needed to make complicated financial information easier to understand. Additionally, Ben currently operates McClurg Tax Solutions with his IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) certification.
Ben’s interest in business and entrepreneurship started early. While attending Waukee High School, he participated in Business Horizons, an Iowa program focused on entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, and real-world business experiences. Around the same time, Ben developed an interest in accounting and began to see how his passion for business and numbers could come together into a career.
That interest led Ben to the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. While at UNI, he continued developing his entrepreneurial and leadership skills, including serving as President of the UNI Entrepreneurs Club. One of the most meaningful experiences during his time at UNI was participating in a project that took him to Nicaragua, where he worked alongside others on an initiative focused on bringing sustainable access to clean water and improved facilities to a local community.
These experiences helped shape the way Ben approaches business and serves clients today: listen closely, understand the complete picture, explain the numbers clearly, and provide knowledgeable guidance through a personal, one-on-one experience. The result is tax preparation designed to help you feel informed, supported, and confident about what comes next.
